Embodied Recovery

Recovery isn’t about controlling your body—it’s about coming home to it.

What is Embodied Recovery?

Embodied Recovery is a somatic, trauma-informed approach to healing eating disorders that integrates the mind, body, and nervous system. It’s designed to go beyond surface-level coping and create sustainable change from the inside out.

Many eating disorders stem from a disconnect between body and mind, often shaped by trauma, chronic stress, or cultural messages around food and appearance. Embodied Recovery works to gently restore this connection by:

  • Cultivating body awareness and interoception (your ability to feel internal signals like hunger, fullness, and emotion)

  • Regulating the nervous system to reduce anxiety, overwhelm, and dissociation

  • Exploring patterns of control, safety, and identity stored in the body

  • Supporting secure attachment and relational healing through safe therapeutic connection

How does Embodied Recovery work?

Embodied Recovery is a trauma-informed, somatic approach to eating disorder treatment that recognizes healing doesn’t happen *just* through insight—it happens through felt experience. When the body is part of the process, recovery becomes more than symptom management. It becomes transformation.

Reconnecting to the Body—Gently, Intentionally, and with Compassion

Most people living with eating disorders or body image distress are deeply disconnected from their physical selves. This disconnection can come from trauma, chronic stress, shame, or environments where control felt safer than feeling.

Embodied Recovery works by rebuilding the bridge between body and mind—one step, one sensation, one breath at a time.

We begin with safety and regulation, not confrontation. Through body-based practices and nervous system education, you’ll learn how to identify when you're in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn—and what it feels like to come back to calm.

The Body Remembers—And It Can Also Relearn

This work is slow, sacred, and deeply personalized. There is no one-size-fits-all map—only the steady, supported process of coming home to yourself.

You don’t need to force your way into recovery.

You can feel your way there—with support, with patience, and with your body as a partner.

Is Embodied Recovery right for you?

  • You’ve tried traditional therapy or treatment but still feel stuck in your body or relationship with food.

  • You feel disconnected from physical sensations, emotions, or intuition.

  • You want to understand why you struggle with eating patterns, not just change behaviors.

  • You're curious about how your nervous system, trauma history, or attachment patterns may relate to your recovery.

  • You’re looking for a gentle, compassionate approach that values your autonomy and honors your story.

You're Not Broken—You're Brilliantly Adaptive

Eating disorders are not just about food—they are often creative, unconscious strategies for surviving a world that hasn't always felt safe. We honor the intelligence behind these strategies while helping you build new pathways toward nourishment, connection, and resilience.
